Finally, the extremely talented modders behind the exceptional Skyrim Script Extender has released a version in beta that works wonderfully with Skryim SE. What this tool allows you to do is install mods that require additional functionality that the base game engine simply cannot offer. I'm talking a better UI experience that wasn't designed for consoles, more feature-packed mods, and more.Just make sure you download and install the version for SE and not the old Skyrim.
Sofia is voiced to the very highest of quality and Christine has a rather extensive list of Skyrim mod credits from Falskaar to Helgen Reborn and Interesting NPCs where she played the loveable Misha amongst others. Sofia is fully location and quest aware (currently just the main quest and bounty quests) and will comment on the player character.
Afterward, you need to launch the SKSE64.exe and not the Skyrim executable through Steam. This is a must-have download for anyone, even if you do not wish to get into modding your Skyrim install. As the name suggests, it's a compiled package of fixes, improvements, and additions to the title.

The rest depends on your system specifications, your desired playstyle and what type of content you want to add to the world of Skyrim. But what are your favorite mods for Skyrim Special Edition? You guys are incredible.
Skyrim Romance Mod - Official WebsiteThe Skyrim Romance mod has enjoyed success among the modding community as a romantic quest and companion, targeted toward an audience of female players. It came as a breath of fresh air to some who feel that many mods, companions and otherwise, are aimed more at heterosexual men. There has been some recent controversy regarding this mod. There are several points of debate; most of them center around issues of copyright. And some very ugly names have been slung around by people who may have an incomplete understanding of the matter.I've assembled this album because I hate how so often in Internet controversies the truth of the matter is hidden behind deleted images, hidden or edited posts, and unsourced accusations. While I have my own opinion on this matter which I will make clear, I hope that people will look at this and eventually make up their own minds. Mod Kickstarter PageThis is the page for the Skyrim Romance Mod kickstarter.
It was not up for long before it was cancelled by the creator, Mara Lightfeather. The video is from MMOxReview, a popular YouTuber who often showcases Skyrim Mods. Note that this video is not the same as the 'This is Not Porn - Skyrim Mods - Week 157' available on his YouTube channel.According to some Mara approached MMOxReview specifically to create this 'review', I haven't seen any comments from the YouTuber or Mara to confirm this. Nexus Ban the FirstNexusMods, which was hosting the Skyrim Romance Mod, banned Mara (aka WingedTwilightofthedawn) in response to the Kickstarter, with the reasoning that it violated both the Creation Kit EULA and Kickstarter's rules regarding infringement. The ban announcement also alleges that Mara deleted comments on the Nexus mod page which pointed out the illegality of her actions. The comments page disappeared when the mod was removed, and I have no screenshots confirming Mara did such a thing.
Announcement on Mod WebsiteThis is the blog post created on the mod's official website in response to the Nexus ban. Mara states that she took down the Kickstarter immediately after finding out such things are not approved of by Bethesda. This is an important point of debate among people on both sides of the controversy- was Mara aware that her actions were illegal? Was it all just an honest mistake? I don't believe so; while I can't confirm that she deleted comments by people who pointed out what she was doing was in violation of the Creation Kit EULA, I believe the circumstantial evidence shown in the following pics adds up to make it very unlikely she was ignorant of what she was doing. Creation Kit EULAThis is the terms which the user must agree to upon downloading the Creation Kit used to make mods for TES V: Skyrim. Note 'you may not cause or permit the sale.
Of any New Materials without the express prior written consent of an authorized representative of Bethesda Softworks. This includes distributing New Materials as part of any compilation You and/or other Product users may create.' It is very clear that you cannot ask users to pay for a mod you or your team create. (In fact, those of you who have issues with Nexus moderation may note that they might risk trouble 'permitting' the sale of a Skyrim mod by hosting the project on NexusMods. The decision to remove the mod and ban Mara could well have been motivated by more than a personal desire to uphold Bethesda's terms.)That you cannot sell mods is not a secret within the community.
If you Google the Creation Kit EULA, you may see many of the top hits reference the kerfluffle that arose when the tool was released and people noted that Bethesda claims rights to all mods created with the Creation Kit. Copyright is an issue that most certainly is discussed in the community- I think you would have to be very isolated from other mod-makers and users to profess complete ignorance on the matter. Never mind the idea of not reading the terms of the software you want to use and then raise tens of thousands of dollars to create content for!
Previous Mod KickstartersThis is also hardly the first time the issue of fund-raising for mods has come up. Pictured is one of the more well-known events where Kickstarter was used to try and raise funds for the creation of a mod. Bethesda got involved, and the project was cancelled.Other debacles regarding copyright and mods (not involving Kickstarter) include Morroblivion, which got a C&D from Bethesda due to using Morrowind content in Oblivion, and the Middle-Earth Roleplaying Project, which got its own C&D from Warner Brothers. The point here is that the rules and laws in this matter are well-known. Very basic research would tell anyone that you cannot sell your Skyrim mod on Kickstarter.
If you are asking for Fifty Thousand Dollars to make something, how can you possibly justify not making the slightest effort to ensure that what you are doing is on the level? Email to the Mod AuthorThis is from a thread on Reddit's Skyrim Mods subreddit, where Terrorfox1234 is a moderator (I believe he has also at least contributed to published mods in the past).I include this in part because it is one of the only responses I can find at the moment where Mara has communicated to an individual on this matter, rather than the blog announcement. It is also a more fleshed-out reasoning for her Kickstarter, rather than just 'I was trying to raise money for my team.' Terrorfox1234's response here is heated and angry, but if these are indeed Mara's words they do smack of self-righteousness. I can understand how a modder who has spent huge amounts of time and effort creating free content might feel that someone taking the 'well in the REAL world people have jobs and bills to deal with' tone as a slap in the face.
Does Mara believe the people who've created mods ever since Morrowind don't know what it's like to juggle finanical obligations as well as an unpaid hobby? Does she believe the Skyrim Romance Mod is so exceptional that it should be above laws that even massive projects like Nehrim must abide by?I do not believe that Mara was unaware of the illegality of what she was doing, but even if she was, it is no excuse.
If she was, then she was expecting people to pay tens of thousands of dollars for a project she could not even be bothered to safeguard. Her righteous desire to compensate her team rings hollow when you realize she hadn't checked to make sure she could pay them in this way. How can you profess to care so deeply about making sure your team can deliver a top-quality product without worry, when you don't care enough to do basic research to ensure the whole ship doesn't go up in flames? InspiredI've covered the main Kickstarter issue, so the rest is mostly a rundown on the other matters people have been debating. I include them in part because I feel they more evidence that Mara has been willfully deceiving people, rather than a victim of an 'honest mistake' now subjected to a terrible witch-hunt.This comes from the credits page on the Skyrim Romance mod website. Mara states that her mod's characters were at best 'inspired' by other game characters, that no content comes from said games, and that her characters are not 'associated' with their inspirations.
From what I have gathered, this is a complete fabrication. The next images go into more detail. The InspirationThis is a screenshot from Neverwinter Nights 2 of the character Bishop, a human ranger. Here is the description of Bishop from the game:“With his perpetual shadow of facial hair and rugged physique, Bishop is rather handsome even if his demeanor is thoroughly unwelcoming. Late into his twenties, this veteran of the wilderness has scars and burns across his skin.
Constantly on the look out, sniffing the air and checking what’s behind him, Bishop’s hands are always on his weapons. Every time you look over to Bishop, he’s looking right back at you.”If you look on the About page for the Skyrim Romance Mod you will notice that this is a word-for-word copy of their Bishop's description. No acknowledgement is given on this or any other page of the Skyrim Romance mod website that this description is taken from another game. Thus so far, we know:-Bishop shares the same race, class, personality and general features as a character from a commercial, licensed video game.-The mod's website has plagiarized the description of their Bishop.
The ModThis is from a Neverwinter Nights 2 modding community website; it is the page for a published mod which adds among other things a romance for Bishop. Notice the other characters listed that are also present in the Skyrim Romance Mod- the ones I have checked also have their descriptions on the SkyRoMod (shit I'm just going to start abbreviating it already) site copy-pasted from the game's official descriptions.
And again, there is no link, no credit, no acknowledgement that these characters are any more than 'inspired' from a few, non-specific video games. Wix CreditsJust to be sure, I checked WingedTwilightofthedawn's previous Wix page for the mod. Nope, no mention of NWN2's mod there either. Some have alleged that SkyRoMod lifts dialogue and writing entirely from at least portions of the Romance Pack. I have not played the original mod, so I cannot verify this. However, I am completely confident in saying that SkyRoMod's depiction of its main characters crosses way, way over the point of 'inspiration.' How can you say a character is 'not associated' with a depiction when practically every detail is identical? How can you not acknowledge the 'inspiration' when the description of your character is lifted letter-by-letter from a commercial product?
Do Not Count Your Chickens Before They HatchThis has been up on the SkyRoMod website for some time. I would imagine it is meant to refer to NexusMod's File of the Month feature, which this mod was far and away the lead contender for in January 2015. Was, because it was removed from the Nexus on January 21st.NexusMods awards their FoTM at the end of the month based on user votes. Not only was it rather presumptuous to place this award on the project page long before said award was actually granted (yes, it was probably going to win, but upsets have occurred before and it's still pretty rude to declare the contest over with a good half the month remaining), now that the mod has been taken down the project is no longer in the running. So as long as this shiny button remains on the page, it is a lie. In ConclusionThis mod had support from the community.
I've no doubt there were a number of talented people involved in its creation- some of the voice acting I've heard in particular has been very high-quality for a mod. A romantic mod more geared towards female players would indeed contrast with much of what is already on offer. That Mara has, I believe, chosen to lie and to steal and to cover things up wherever possible angers me. It is disrespectful to the people who put genuine effort into the mod, it is disrespectful to the people who have created fan content without resorting to unethical profit-seeking, and it is disrespectful to the professionals she has stolen paid work from and tried to pass off as her own.I do not believe that because this is a 'fan matter' that it makes the theft less serious. The definition of a professional is often given as someone who seeks to be paid or make a living from their work. Mara in her own words was trying to do this- to the tune of $50,000- so I absolutely believe she and her project deserve to be held to professional standards.I also find personally disgusting the implication a few have leveled that women should support the SkyRoMod and by extension Mara because so little content is made specifically geared to us. Do not try and speak for me, and do not suggest that I defend someone whose actions I find abhorrent because we share a gender.
I have every confidence that there are modders both current and future who are capable of creating women-centered content that doesn't rely on lies and theft to gain an audience. I want to believe that we deserve better than that.
